India-UK FTA – A strategic partnership for trade, investment and growth

In brief 

India and the United Kingdom (UK) signed a historical and trade-bolstering deal titled the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA or agreement) on 24 July 2025 that aims to boost bilateral trade and investments, create jobs and enhance cooperation between the countries. The agreement is set to enter into force on 15 July 20261 .

This free-trade agreement (FTA) marks a significant milestone in India’s engagement with developed economies and reflects a shared commitment to deeper economic integration.
