On 30 July 2026, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) notified the IRDAI (Registration, Capital Structure, Transfer of Shares and Amalgamation of Insurers) (Amendment) Regulations, 20261 , and IRDAI (Insurance Intermediaries) (Amendment) Regulations, 20262 (both amendments hereafter referred to as amendments), introducing important changes to the regulatory framework governing insurers and insurance intermediaries, including corporate agents, insurance brokers, insurance marketing firms and web aggregators.
These amendments are introduced to align the regulatory framework with the revised provisions of the Insurance Act, 1938, as amended by the Sabka Bima, Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025.
