A well-developed asset and wealth management sector plays an important role in the growth and development of the IFSC as a financial centre. The regulatory framework pertaining to fund management in IFSC was notified after an extensive consultation process, in the form of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (Fund Management) Regulations, 2022, which came into effect in May 2022.
This all-encompassing framework prescribes regulations for asset and wealth management activities as well as for raising capital through different types of funds – i.e. retail, non-retail, environmental, social, governance (ESG), special situations fund etc. The IFSC is an emerging gateway for both outbound and inbound funds and currently, more than 100 funds and fund management entities have already been registered under this regulation in IFSC. The tax benefits, combined with ease of doing business and cost efficiency, position IFSC as an attractive choice for fund managers.
