Planning a digital strategy for a leading animal and human healthcare entity

Situation

The client, a leading animal and human healthcare provider specialising in herbal products, had a vision of ‘accelerating growth by providing a unique value and  experience to our customers through a digitally empowered and agile organisation’. To deliver sustained outcomes, the client needed a strategy-through-execution roadmap, with clearly defined initiatives and a prioritisation matrix to facilitate readiness of implementation.

The client was in its digitalisation phase and using enterprise platforms for its and domestic businesses, along with online quality management tools and some level of manufacturing automation.

They wanted to digitally transform in all categories, including marketing, customer relationships, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, IT, R&D and HR to support its business strategy.

Solution

PwC India adopted a phased approach

  • Understood the current maturity, strategic ambition and digital aspirations across the business value chain by capturing inputs from internal (business and IT) and external (customers, stockists, doctors, etc.) stakeholders.
  • Compared the landscape against peer and industry leading organisations and identified best practices/digital interventions in similar businesses.
  • Conducted visioning workshops for ideating solutions and leading practices, based on the gaps identified.
  • Collated potential ideas and discussed possibilities with key stakeholders for enabling the digital journey.
  • Conducted executive workshops to prioritise initiatives for the overall digital roadmap; defined business cases for implementation.

Results

  • Future-ready blueprint for the organisation to realise the digital agenda with tangible benefits realisation across revenue enhancement, operational efficiency and user experience
  • Digital maturity score of the organisation, providing transparency into the overall standing in comparison to its peers
  • Initiatives prioritised on a three-year digital roadmap, with overall guidance for implementation
  • Insights into IT spend and return on investment (RoI) expected for the defined digital initiatives
