Second Act stories | Mamta Bhardwaj

Mamta Bhardwaj

What was your role when you first joined the firm?

I stepped into PwC in 2021 as a  Senior Associate at the Gurugram office, joining the Advisory – Cybersecurity Consulting team. It was the start of an exciting journey into a domain that was both challenging and deeply impactful.

What were your initial impressions and experiences?

Just as I was settling in, the world went into lockdown. What truly impressed me was how PwC rose to the occasion – introducing thoughtful initiatives for mental health and wellness. It wasn’t just about work; it was about people. That sense of care stayed with me. And when my efforts were recognised with a promotion the very next year, it reinforced my belief that I was in the right place.

What experiences or roles did you undertake after leaving?

After leaving PwC, I ventured into the world of gamified and experiential learning at a different firm. It was a creative and experimental phase where I also earned certifications to strengthen my expertise. But destiny had other plans – I was called back within six months, this time to set up learning and development operations for PwC Academy with the Tax function. It felt like a new chapter with familiar roots.

What motivated you to rejoin PwC?

Honestly, it felt like a calling – the right opportunity at the right time, pointing me in the right direction. Rejoining wasn’t just a career move; it was a homecoming. There’s a unique sense of belonging here that’s hard to put into words.

How have you grown personally and professionally since rejoining?

Rejoining PwC has been nothing short of transformative for me. Professionally, I’ve honed my skills through diverse projects and collaborated with some of the most talented minds in the industry. Each experience has sharpened my expertise and broadened my perspective.

On a personal level, PwC has taught me invaluable lessons in patience, multitasking, and viewing challenges from multiple angles. One of the biggest takeaways has been the power of networking – building meaningful relationships and trust has helped me navigate complex situations with confidence. I am among a handful people who've had the opportunity to work with three out of four lines of service of the firm. It’s been a journey of continuous evolution, both inside and out, and I truly value the growth this environment has enabled.

What is your current role?

Today, I am a Manager in IT Security, leading the Learning and Development function. My role is all about creating impactful learning experiences that empower our teams to excel.

What contributions are you most proud of since rejoining?

I take immense pride in contributing to a large-scale project for the Ministry of Home Affairs and now driving learning initiatives for our IT Security team. Building a cohesive learning ecosystem that strengthens operational excellence has been both challenging and rewarding.

What vision do you have for the future of the firm?

For me, the vision is clear – PwC as the best place to work, learn and evolve. A space where innovation thrives, people grow, and excellence becomes second nature.
