Second Act stories | Deepa Rajan

Deepa Rajan

What was your role when you first joined the firm?

My first stint with PwC was in 2020, when I worked as an Assistant Manager in CCD team (Counterparty Due Diligence).

What were your initial impressions and experiences?

As someone who had a long stint with the same company, entering the universe of Big Four was overwhelming initially, with a lot to learn and unlearn and also aligning with a different kind of work culture. Since it was a time of Covid with a sudden shift to a virtual mode, it became all the more challenging to cope up. However, with time it became normal and easier to cope with work and personal life.

What experiences or roles did you undertake after leaving?

After leaving, I rejoined the same organisation where I came from before joining PwC. During this time, I handled and led various assignments on due diligence, individual background checks, and corporate investigation.

What motivated you to rejoin PwC?

An exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of the same team in a better role motivated me to rejoin PwC.

How have you grown personally and professionally since rejoining?

I have been learning and developing my skills in project management, client relations, and team management. I have taken ownership of more complex initiatives and become more strategic in how I approach problem-solving.

What is your current role?

I am currently working as a manager with CDD team wherein I am responsible for managing a project for an American Investment Bank.

What contributions are you most proud of since rejoining?

Since rejoining, one of the contributions I'm most proud of is to have worked and delivered large and complex reports directly to the client. I’m also proud of the mentorship and support I’ve been able to offer to the team based on my experience. Rejoining with a fresh perspective, I was in a unique position to bridge gaps and offer guidance, which helped build a more collaborative and confident team culture.

What vision do you have for the future of the firm?

I believe the firm has a strong foundation built on deep client relationships, excellence, teamwork and integrity.

My vision for the future is to see us expand that reputation - not just by growing in size or revenue, but by continuing to lead with excellence, agility, and purpose. I’m excited to help shape that future - by contributing to both day-to-day execution and longer-term innovation.
