Ahmedabad launches vocational centre to train youth

CR initiative in the West

PwC India Foundation (PwCIF) launched a vocational centre for training youth in Ghodasar, Ahmedabad on 12 July 2017, in collaboration with NGO - Saath Charitable Trust. The centre will undertake a three month long retail training, preparing students to get placed with organised retailers.

Enrollment of the first batch on 12 July 2017 was a feat towards building a future of these young students. 13 PwCites from our Ahmedabad office participated in the launch. Books were distributed among the students, followed by an interactive session with them. Objective of the kick off session was to help them understand the importance of financial independence, education and necessity of being employed.

Over the next six months, PwCIF along with Saath Charitable Trust will mentor 100 such students to build on their aptitude and attitude along with harnessing their interpersonal skills.

Let’s hear from some of our volunteers:

"A very nice initiative by PwC India Foundation for giving back to the society. It was a pleasure to be part of inaugurating the new centre for the youth from socially and economically weaker sections of the society. We had a fruitful interactive session with the students."

Keval Gudka, Manager, Ahmedabad

"It was and will be an incredible journey engaging with SAATH Charitable Trust volunteering on behalf of PwC India Foundation to mentor these students and help build their capabilities to place themselves independently in the market place. I am glad that I am contributing for the benefits of the society via PwC’s corporate responsibility activities."

Chintan Doshi, Assistant Manager, Ahmedabad
