Course Overview

International Financial Reporting Standard 9 (IFRS 9) on Financial instruments issued by the International Accounting Standard board addresses the accounting treatment for financial assets, Financial liabilities, derivatives etc. 

This standard covers three main topics

  1. Classification and Measurement
  2. Impairment and
  3. Hedge accounting

This standard largely impacts entities in the financial services space with increasing complexities in financial instruments to meet the dynamic business needs. Understanding of this standard is paramount for auditors, accountants, analysts and other finance professionals. 

Course Objective

The financial reporting environment is complex and given the dynamic business needs, the financial instruments are ever evolving, which can place a heavy burden on businesses to comply with the reporting requirements under IFRS 9.
