India and the United Kingdom (UK) have signed a historical and trade bolstering deal titled ‘Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement’ (CETA or agreement) that aims to boost bilateral trade and investments, create jobs and enhance cooperation between the countries. The agreement, signed1 on 24 July 2025, is a strategic move to strengthen India’s global trade positioning and it taps into newer opportunities. It will further require approval from the UK Parliament for its overall effectuation.
