Promoting artisans for their financial independence

PwC Ahmedabad collaborated with an NGO partner that has been running project 'Udgreev' which helps train marginalised women to design different art forms using textile, so that they become self-sufficient. The objective of Udgreev is to prepare the marginal youth, especially adolescent girls towards economic stability by imparting and building their vocational skills. As part of a CR initiative, the NGO was given an opportunity to showcase the products made by one of the women artisans under this project at our Ahmedabad office recently. The products were available for sale to all the employees. The event was received well and graced by our Chairman, Shyamal Mukherjee.

Promoting artisans for their financial independence

Tejal, an artisan, who had undergone skill development training as part of 'Udgreev' was overwhelmed after interacting with Shyamal. She got an opportunity to share her insight on the art of making handmade office supplies such as diaries, files and numerous other products as a result of her training in 'tie and dye' and 'shibori'. She expressed her gratitude to the NGO for helping her realise her potential.
