With the objective to beautify the walls of a pre-school and to encourage community participation, PwC North CR team planned an initiative in old Gurgaon recently. This activity was planned keeping in mind the engagement of people from the community as well as the participation of volunteers from PwC.
The event started with a brief round of introduction by the beneficiaries, volunteers and the NGO partner staff. The volunteers from PwC were also briefed about the project 'Saksharta se Safalta', the implementation strategy and facilities we have at our center and school for the community members by Ipsita, the programme coordinator of the project.
Everyone was excited to start the activity. The next task was to divide all the participants into four teams. The teams were divided through a unique method by picking an Uno card (one colour for each team). Subsequently, each participant picked up differently coloured cards and joined their respective teams. The themes for the wall painting were predecided: 'The Universe', 'Bottom of the Sea' and 'Jungle Safari'. This was followed by plantation activities by the volunteers and the children present there.
It was a wonderful experience to see the creative side of all the children. Their enthusiasm was overwhelming and it feels great to be able to give back to society in this way.
We had a great time interacting with all the children and painting the school walls to make the ambience more vibrant for the children. Would be happy to be a part of such events in the future as well.
