Government of Gujarat announces the Viksit Gujarat Data Center Policy, 2026

In brief

The Viksit Gujarat Data Center Policy (2026-2029) (Policy)¹ is a strategic framework designed to position Gujarat as India’s leading hyperscale and co-location data centre destination by developing a scalable, secure and sustainable digital infrastructure ecosystem that supports global cloud providers, and anchors the nation’s digital economy. 

The Policy establishes a target to achieve 7.5 GW of data centre capacity in the state by attracting global hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and digital infrastructure investors. It focuses on creating a secure, sustainable and energy-efficient digital ecosystem by leveraging Gujarat’s strong industrial base and renewable energy leadership, with a specific emphasis on green and renewable energy sourcing for core data centre operations. 

The Policy provides fiscal support to all eligible entities in the form of capital subsidy, interest subsidy, power tariff subsidy, stamp duty and registration fees, electricity duty, and state goods and services tax (SGST) reimbursement on local procurement. In addition, it provides non-fiscal support via building approval plan relaxation, facilitation of necessary regulation and the necessary infrastructure for the operationalisation of the eligible entities. 

This Policy is aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and valid for a period of three years from the date of its notification.
