PwC India Foundation along with its NGO partner distributed health and hygiene kits to the flood affected villagers of Telahi Block, Lakhimpur district, Assam. The relief kit contained essentials like medicines, soap, comb, hand wash, sanitary napkin, water purifier, solar lantern, mosquito net, etc. Our volunteers travelled to a village called Rantijan Axomia where the situation was apathetic. There was water scarcity. Children washed their mid-day meal utensils with contaminated water. People were trying hard to get back to their routine life. Our volunteers interacted with the villagers and realised that flood is a frequent phenomenon in this part of the region, and communities require support in terms of food, water and shelter. The community was happy to receive support from PwC India Foundation in collaboration with the NGO and mentioned that relief rarely comes to such interiors.
While distributing medicines the team ensured that the community received information in their local language. Additionally, the NGO partner arranged a demo on how and when to use medicines, and the use water purifier. I would like to thank Corporate Responsibility team who worked relentlessly to make this programme a success.
