My 10th wedding anniversary coincided with a CR activity and we decided to celebrate it in a different way. My wife and I, along with a group of volunteers from PwC, visited a village in Jawhar district in Maharashtra to inspect the water structures - Jal Kundas - built on 10 February 2018.
We formed teams of three and with the help of a local villager in each team, we set out to explore the area. We checked whether there was sufficient water available in the Jal Kundas and was utilised to water the saplings. We also evaluated the status of the cashew and mango saplings that we planted last year. Hats off to the villagers who took good care of these water harvesters.
We then had a brief meeting with people from the village. We spoke to them about the benefits of water harvesting and tree plantation and gave our perspective and observations Finally, it was time to depart and we purchased souvenirs from a village artist.
