The Gujarat vision: Making MSMEs globally competitive*

PwC, in association with CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) undertook a thought leadership study on titled 'The Gujarat vision: Making MSMEs globally competitive' which was launched on 22nd February '10 in Ahmedabad. This report analyses how the Gujarat are undergoing a significant transformation with several large scale investments being undertaken by the public and private sector players. The study probes two key themes- priorities for the Gujarat MSME industry and key recommendations for the Gujarat MSME industry.

The report also brings to light the fundamental challenges faced by the MSME sector such as lack of financial assistance and credit availability, market orientation, accessibility to markets and technology as well as lack of availability of risk capital. The report was released by Sharat Bansal, Executive Director and Head Business Advisory, along with Anand Dikshit, Executive Director, Rajesh Shah, MD, Harsha Engineering Ltd. Abhay Bakre, Jt. Development Commissioner, Govt. of India, Yatindra Sharma, Vice-Chairman, CII-Gujarat, R.J. Shah, CEO-Dahej, Dev Mukherjee, HeadGujarat State, CII. Sharat Bansal presented an overview of the key findings of the study.
